The Mother Plot
“The Mother”: Former SAS Captain Adrian Lovell and arms dealer Hector Alvarez arrange an arms smuggling transaction through an unidentified U.S. military agent. She becomes romantically engaged with both of them and eventually becomes pregnant. The mother approaches the FBI to be an informant after learning that they are involved in child trafficking. William Cruise, an FBI Special agent, is questioning the mother at a safe house when Lovell attacks the residence; Cruise is shot and hurt, and the other FBI agents are killed. Cruise is spared death by The Mother, who also creates a time-delayed explosive.
Before being knocked unconscious and burned by the explosion, Lovell confronts her in the bathroom and stabs her in her stomach. The mother gives birth prematurely to a girl at the hospital following the incident. The mother is notified by SAIC Eleanor Williams that her newborn daughter would be put with a foster family for protection and that Lovell’s body was reported stolen. Knowing that the child will never be secure in her care, she angrily renounces her parental rights. When the mother visits Cruise, she gives him three instructions: the child must lead as normal a life as possible; she must receive a picture on her birthday each year; and she must phone her if her safety is in danger.
With the assistance of Jons, a former army buddy, the mother then relocates to a secluded cabin in Alaska. A decade and a half later, Cruise invites her to a meeting in Ohio. He informs her that the ATF may be onto The Mother because they discovered a picture of her daughter, Zoe when they captured some of the Alvarez guys in Mexico. Alvarez’s men kidnap Zoe as she is playing in a park, and Cruise and the mother are watching her closely.
Before the mother and Cruise get away from the police, she is able to shoot multiple of them. She knows that Zoe’s kidnapping was carried out to get her to come out of hiding, even though he believes it is for ransom. They travel to Havana, Cuba in the hopes of finding information on Zoe’s location. They capture Tarantula, Alvarez’s subordinate, who confesses to being detained at Alvarez’s home on “the Plantation” when interrogated.
