Shailaja Balakrishnan is a well-known psychology professor and the celebrity wife of actor Kennedy John Victor, more commonly recognised as Vikram, an Indian actor, and playback singer who primarily appears in Tamil films but has also appeared in Telugu, Malayalam, and Hindi films. In the year 1992, Vikram married Shailaja Balakrishnan.
Shailaja initially met Vikram in the 1980s while he was on crutches because of medical conditions. He was hospitalised after hurting his leg in the collision. As a psychology instructor, she visited Vikram, who was completely bedridden, several times for moral support. During this time, they developed a close relationship and began to enjoy each other’s company.
Vikram and Shailaja fell in love as a result of it. They agreed to marry in 1992, and their wedding went place. The pair married discreetly in Chennai’s Loyola College Church.
The couple has two children: Akshita, born in 1993, and Dhruv, born in 1995. His son, Dhruv Vikram, made his Tamil cinema debut in Arjun Reddy’s remake, directed by Sandeep Reddy and named ‘Vaarma’ in Tamil.
The film received mixed reviews, but Dhruv showed to be a capable performer capable of filling his father’s shoes. On October 30, 2017, his daughter, Akshita, married Manu Ranjith, the great-grandson of former Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi, at Karunanidhi’s house in Chennai.
