Khiladi Kumar Film on India’s First Airstrike: Sky Force is an upcoming aerial action film Starring Akshay Kumar and Veer Pahariya. Sandeep Kelwani and Abhishek Anil Kapur co-directed the film, which was produced by Dinesh Vijan and Jyoti Deshpande. Amar Kaushik, the director of Stree and Bhediya, is also a creative producer on the project.

On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti and the birth anniversary of former Indian Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri, whose tenure the film is set, the film’s announcement teaser was published on October 2, 2023. The teaser opens with a voice recognized as Pakistan’s then-President Muhammad Ayub Khan expressing threats against India. The video then cuts to a clip showing Lal Bahadur Shastri rebuffing Pakistan’s assault and pledging a proper response.

The film will be released in theaters on October 2, 2024, to commemorate Shastri’s 100th birthday. Sky Force’s creators have described the film as an untold factual story that graphically depicts history like never before.

Dinesh Vijan and Jyoti Deshpande, who have previously collaborated on films such as Stree, Bala, Roohi, and Bhediya, are co-producing the film. They’re also behind Akshay Kumar’s next flick Mission Raniganj: The Great Bharat Rescue.

The film is co-directed by Sandeep Kelwani and Abhishek Anil Kapur, both of whom are making their directorial debuts. Arjan Singh was born in Lyallpur, Punjab, British India (now Faisalabad, Punjab, Pakistan) on April 15, 1919. His father, grandpa, and great-grandfather had all served in the army, therefore he came from a military family.

In 1938, he enrolled in the Royal Air Force College Cranwell and graduated as a pilot officer in 1939. He served in the North-West Frontier Province with the IAF’s No. 1 Squadron. He piloted a variety of planes, including the Westland Wapiti, Hawker Hart, and Hawker Audax.

During the Arakan Campaign in 1944, he led the No. 1 Squadron of the Indian Air Force. He flew close air support flights for the Allies as well as air-to-air combat with Japanese planes. For his bravery and leadership, he was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross.

Following WWII, he enrolled at the RAF Staff College at Bracknell in 1945. In 1945, he also led the Indian Air Force’s showcase flight. On 15 August 1947, he conducted the first fly-past of Royal Indian Air Force aircraft over the Red Fort in Delhi following India’s partition.

He served in the Indian Air Force in a variety of command and staff capacities, including Wing Commander of Air Force Station Ambala, Air Commodore of Western Air Command, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Operational Command, and Deputy Chief of the Air Staff.

He died due to Cardiac Arrest on September 16, 2017, at the age of 98. He was cremated with full state honors in Delhi Cantonment’s Brar Square. Several dignitaries, including President Ram Nath Kovind, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, and Chief of Defence Staff Bipin Rawat, attended his funeral.

He is well-recognized as a distinguished and respected Indian Air Force officer. He will be remembered for his bravery, professionalism, vision, and service to the defense and security of the country. In his honor, the Indian Air Force post in Panagarh, West Bengal, was renamed Air Force Station Arjan Singh in 2016.
