Pradeep’s remorse over losing Shailaja doesn’t feel as genuine as his dynamic with his spirited wife Sarika – Kadambari Kadam. Despite Ahlawat’s solid performance, Pradeep, an aspiring Hindi poet with a distinctively North Indian demeanor, stands out in this Marathi setting of Maharashtra.
Dhaware’s exquisite cinematography captures the picturesque Konkan setting, but unfortunately, it merely serves as a superficial backdrop for a film that lacks substantial and impactful scenes. The inclusion of local folklore about water spirits feels out of place and does not contribute to the overall narrative.
One of the film’s strengths lies in its gentle pacing, which allows us to understand Shailaja’s desires and also showcases some poignant moments between her and Pradeep. The sequence featuring a Ferris wheel serves as a fitting metaphor for Shailaja’s reluctance to move on and Pradeep’s dilemma regarding her sudden return.
