Ponniyin Selvan 2 Day 3 Collection is 150 Cr. Worldwide.

Ponniyin Selvan 2 by Mani Ratnam is doing really well at the box office throughout the world. In barely three days, the film reached Rs 150 crore worldwide. Aside from doing well at the domestic box office, the film is also doing well internationally. At this pace, Lyca Productions’ investment in the film will be lucrative. However, the film received polarising reactions from critics and audiences as well.

Vikram is fantastic in this part, especially in the scene where he interrogates Parthibendra Pallava (Vikram Prabhu) to find out if he met Nandini. Doubt, rage, and even sympathy flicker over his face as he sees his friend has fallen into Nandini’s trap.

Ponniyin Selvan 2 is Aishwarya and Vikram’s second collaboration, following the critically acclaimed 2010 film. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Karthi, Chiyaan Vikram, Trisha, and Jayam Ravi star in the key roles. Supporting actors include Prakash Raj, Prabhu, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Sobhita Dhulipala, Jayaram, Ashwin Kakumanu, Mohan Raman, Sarathkumar, and Parthiban. The technical team includes composer AR Rahman, editor Sreekar Prasad, and cinematographer Ravi Varman.

Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan 1, which he co-wrote with Jeyamohan and Elango Kumaravel, begins with Aditha Karikalan (Vikram) conquering the Rashtrakutas but hesitating to behead their monarch.

He circled the king on his horse, but as the moment came, his expression became clouded with emotion. Instead of his head, he knocks off his hat. This is a battle-hardened, aggressive prince, but his rage is primarily directed at himself. The affection he once felt has turned into hatred.

Ponniyin Selvan 2

Ponniyin Selvan 2 begins with a lavishly produced, beautifully staged prologue that transports the spectator to the period of Aditha Karikalan’s first encounter with orphan girl Nandini, who stumbles into the kingdom and attracts the eye of the Chola prince. The film then delves into the kingdom’s myriad intrigues, internecine squabbles, and secret liaisons.

Ponniyin Selvan 2, based on filmmaker Mani Ratnam, B. Jeyamohan, and Elango Kumaravel’s adaptation of Kalki’s magnum opus, makes certain liberties with the much-loved literary classic. It pays off because the departures are never overly self-conscious. Ratnam’s excellent grasp of the technical components and the literary substance of the tale enhances the overall impact of the structure.

Despite its nearly three-hour length, Ponniyin Selvan 2 is a wonderfully strong and compact whole, definitely to a far larger extent than the first half. The film is a visual feast. Ravi Varman’s cinematography captures the vastness of the landscapes while delving into the tiny intricacies of the magnificent visuals created by the camera. The allure is not only sensual or superficial. Ponniyin Selvan 2 contains enough to move both the mind and the heart.

Ponniyin Selvan 2

Ponniyin Selvan 2 is still a story about unrequited love. Karikalan’s (Vikram) tumultuous romance with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, (Who Plays Role of Nandini) and the threat it presents to the Chola crown prince is the core of the broad story.

The film focuses on the development of the ideal ruler who was to bring in the Chola dynasty’s golden period. It follows Aditha Karikalan’s younger, even-tempered brother, Arunmozhi Varman (Jayam Ravi), as he ascends to the throne, as well as the ups and downs that face Vallavaraiyan Vandiyadevan (Karthi), the Vanara clan warrior-prince, as he battles off a series of physical challenges.

The filmmaker obtains extraordinary consistency from the performers, with Chiyan Vikram’s forceful presence providing a sturdy anchor for a handful of the film’s most essential passages. Others in the cast, particularly Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Karthi, and Jayam Ravi, are continually on the move and use every chance to make their presence known.

With a cast of hundreds to work with, Ratnam manages to fit them all in and give each of the characters a particular place in the wider scheme of things. Veteran performers like Prakash Raj, R. Sharath Kumar, and R. Parthiban must make do with minimal screen time, yet they are not rendered insignificant.

Because a major twist in the novel is completely eliminated in the film, the ending appears calm and unconvincing. This may have worked if the screenplay had appropriately led up to the major scene, but it doesn’t. It’s boring for both those who have and haven’t read the novel. The VFX in the scene shortly before the credits, encapsulating the Chola empire’s expansion, is tacky and should have been better for a film of this scale.
