Halle Bailey plays Ariel, the renowned mermaid princess who wishes to be a part of the unknown realm above the ocean floor. When she saves the handsome Prince Eric (Jonah Hauer-King) from a shipwreck, she strikes a bargain with the sea witch Ursula (Melissa McCarthy) to obtain human legs and travel to land to please him. But there is one catch to the deal: Ariel must sacrifice her voice in order to glimpse the things she seeks. However, as fans of the original 1989 film will recall, this has a number of ramifications that endanger both her life and the lives of those she cares about.
