Leave the World Behind Plot

Amanda Sandford, her spouse Clay, and their two kids, Rose, and Archie, take an unexpected trip to a Long Island rental home. Amanda is at the grocery store when she notices a bearded man purchasing a lot of canned foods and water. They don’t have an internet connection later when they’re at the house. Rose is unable to watch Friends’ final episode. Amanda and Clay observe deer as they approach the property.

At a neighboring beach, they relax as an oil tanker comes alongside. They are upset when they get home and discover that their Wi-Fi and television are broken. The children are sleeping when George H. Scott (G.H.) and his daughter Ruth arrive at the residence later that evening.

They clarified that they were the owners of the house and that they traveled to Long Island due to a blackout in the city. Ruth’s mother is scheduled to return by plane the next day from her business trip to Morocco.

Amanda is suspicious of them right first, but after G.H. gives them a $1,000 cash refund, Clay lets them stay the night. Amanda wakes up to find four news notifications on her phone: two concerning the blackouts, one warning that hackers are to blame for the situation, and one with numbers and symbols on it. Rose observes as a quite large group of deer approaches the property. In an attempt to get some answers, Clay decides to drive into town, but his GPS isn’t working properly.

Families try to get ready for a long blackout by checking on the food supplies and filling a tub with water in case the water supply stops. However, Archie soon forms a fever. In order to get him to a doctor the following morning, Amanda and Clay realize they must depart.

On the lawn that evening, a group of wild flamingos occurs. Subsequently, several additional loud booms break more glass, scaring them all. Amanda begins to feel that it would be best to stay here as they have access to food, water, and electricity; but, upon awakening, some of Archie’s teeth have fallen out. They all realize that Rose is absent as well. Scared, Clay, George, and Archie decide to head straight to a neighboring hospital by car. Ruth and Amanda will stay behind to look for Rose.
