Will Smith Magic Continues in “I am Legend 2”
Will Smith returns in I am Legend 2: Will Smith’s 2007 film “I Am Legend” is getting a sequel with Michael B. Jordan entering the apocalyptic fight – and filmmaker Akiva Goldsman is spilling the beans.
In an interview, Goldsman refused to reveal Jordan’s position in the film but indicated that the sequel will more closely follow the path of Richard Matheson’s book, on which the original film is based. “I Am Legend” was one of the year’s highest-earning pictures, grossing approximately $77 million in its opening weekend.
After more than 15 years, Warner Bros. is finally moving forward with I Am Legend 2, the follow-up to the sci-fi horror blockbuster from 2007. Will Smith starred in Francis Lawrence’s original I Am Legend, which was a critical and economic success.

Will Smith returns as Dr. Robert Neville, his virologist character from the previous film, who will continue his studies on the Dark Seekers in the sequel. Smith has previously played Agent J in the Men in Black series and Detective Sergeant Mike Lowrey in the Bad Boys series, among others.
Smith received the Academy Award for Best Actor for his performance in King Richard as Venus and Serena Williams’ father Richard. He was nominated for another Oscar for his roles as Muhammad Ali in the biopic Ali and Chris Gardner in the uplifting drama The Pursuit of Happiness.
Smith provided an update on the project shortly on Instagram after the media published this report. Michael B. Jordan will co-star with Smith in an unspecified role in I Am Legend 2. Jordan, like Smith, is co-producing and starring in I Am Legend 2.
Jordan originally gained attention for his strong portrayal as Oscar Grant in Fruitvale Station, and he later reteamed with director Ryan Coogler to play Adonis “Donnie” Creed in Creed and sympathetic MCU villain Erik Kill monger in Black Panther. Jordan returned as Donnie in Creed II and III, making his directing debut in the latter. He also appeared in The Wire as Wallace, Friday Night Lights as Vince Howard, and Fant4stic as the Human Torch.
I Am Legend 2 appears ready for a theatrical release, and with Warner Brothers on board, it might eventually end up on HBO Max or its own streaming channel. The first I Am Legend film can be rented on Amazon Prime, YouTube, Apple TV, or Vudu, but it is not accessible on a streaming service.
