Kamal Haasan, who was 41 at the time Indian was released, played both a father and a son in the film. He wore prosthetics to look older in order to play the father. Shankar and his team received recognition for their usage of makeup in this film. Ironically, the actor is now 68 years old and must perform as a younger version of himself.
